Indian IT Outsourcing Firms to Post Strong Profits for 3Q – Survey
(January 14, 2006 - GlobalSourcingNow) - A Reuters poll of 10 brokerages
estimates the growth in the quarterly profits of Indian IT and outsourcing
services companies to be between a minimum of 8.3 percent and a maximum
of 56.9 percent, when compared to the same quarterly figure last year.
The main reason attributed to the boom in quarterly profits is the
gradual evolution of technology services outsourcing, with such contracts
increasingly becoming long-term partnerships. Another contributory
factor is the decline of the Indian Rupee against the US Dollar by
around 2.3 percent in the October-December quarter.
(Comment from O2P: The Philippines has only a few listed companies
in the ITeS arena (software, call centers, BPO, etc.), thus it is
more difficult to estimate profitability of our outsourcing industry.
This however would be a very interesting exercise, and is another
area where there is anecdotal data, but the "hard" data
is lacking. Perhaps a worthwhile initiative for the industry associations,
and/or for an objective consultancy project (...but who would fund
such an initiative?).
