Survey Identifies key BPO Areas in the UK
(August 12, 2005 - GlobalSourcingNow.com) - According to a survey
by TPI 8 out of 10 'large' UK companies plan to boost offshore outsourcing
to reduce costs, as the process matures. The survey, which questioned
100 executives, found eighty one of respondents to be willing to
shift business to offshore countries including India and China in
the next two to three years. Central and Eastern Europe are also
considered to be popular offshore destinations. About 75 percent
of the executives questioned use India as an offshore destination,
28 percent use Central and Eastern Europe and 25 percent use China.
The report also found that companies are increasingly using subsidiaries
instead of outside consultants for IT related outsourcing.
(Comment from O2P: The UK market for outsourcing services has
not been addressed very well to date by Filipino companies; however,
this may be changing. In the Philippine Daily Inquirer dated 8/13/05,
there is a half-page ad from a UK-based company called "Merlin
Information Systems", that is setting up an inbound tech support
call center. India's close historical connection with the UK, has
given Indian call centers an edge over Philippines-based outsourcers...but
given the increasing emergence of a global community of service
providers that is not bounded by national borders, the UK market
may represent a very interesting opportunity for the Philippines.
It may also provide a launching point for the country to enter the
broader European market.)
