CCAP Event Draws Large Numbers and Offers Diverse
Opportunities
(August 24, 2005) - CCAP (Contact Center Association of the Philippines)
has addressed the needs of its 24 member companies, by hosting the
2-day event - billed as a Conference, Exhibit, and Job Fair. O2P
was there as a visitor, and was impressed by the well-run event,
that offered something for everyone. Many young people attended
and appeared to be taking full advantage of the opportunity to apply
directly to the exhibitor companies. A few items of note: Teledevelopment
offered to administer its fully automated English skills assessment
test, taking less than 10 minutes to complete, to anyone willing
to suffer the indignity of being deemed insufficient by a computer.
I took the test, and being a native New Yorker, assumed that I would
pass with flying colors, and no doubt be offered a lucrative job
by a contact center. Well, sorry to say, but I flunked the test,
and was categorized as one of the people needing additional training.
What a blow to my ego! I took the test a second time, and suffered
a similar indignity. I am considering signing up for a remedial
English course...or perhaps changing job objectives and becoming
a singing waiter (in Tagalog of course). Also of note was the booth
of a new company "AskMeNow", that is actively seeking
recruits. This company will be a one-stop shop for users of the
Blackberry and other wireless devices, to gain any desired information
from the internet. The help desk will be staffed by knowledgeable
people able to navigate the web and find the answers to even the
most obscure of questions. An intriguing concept, and one that should
prove challenging for the help desk agents. All in all, hats off
to the organizers, exhibitors, conference speakers, and attendees,
for what appears to have been a successful event that will assist
in the growth of the outsourcing industry."
